Training-Room Tips: How to Keep Elastic Wrap In Place On Injured Thigh Muscles
Pat Aitken

Athletes with a mild strain of the quadriceps (thigh) muscles can often train and compete—usually with some extra support from an elastic wrap (Tensor bandage). However, such bandages have a tendency to slip during active training and competition.

Keeping Elastic Wrap in Place
There are two ways to prevent such inopportune slippages:

  1. When applying elastic wrap, first spray tape adherent on the area that will be wrapped. This sticky substance will help the wrap adhere to the skin.
  2. If you don't have tape adherent, roll a strip of athletic tape—sticky side out—into a small tube. Apply it vertically along the length of the thigh.  Then wrap the thigh as usual. The sticky tape will hold the bandage in place.
