About Us

Physical Education Update is not a huge multinational corporation. Along with a few regular contributors (you are always welcome to contribute, by the way), here are the people who prepare your fix of the latest practical information, research, ideas and tips and coaching cues.

Dick Moss, Publisher/Editor (B.Sc., University of Wisconsin)

Dick Moss has a long history of providing information to physical educators and scholastic coaches. Starting in 1984 to present, he founded and published the Coaching Digest newsletter; the Physical Education Digest magazine, eJournal and website; and now the PE Update website and its companion web resources, PE Tips of the Week and the PE Update Blog. He has written four eBooks on sport, coaching and physical education topics.

Dick has coached track and cross-country running for over 35 years. He is currently the head coach of the Laurentian University's track and XC teams, and the founding coach of Sudbury's Track North Athletic Club. In his capacity as club coach, he works with students at the elementary, high school and university level. He is a Level-3 coach in the distance and hurdles events. He has also coached a boys' elementary school basketball team and girls' high school flag football team.

Long, long ago, Dick was an All-American in track at the University of Wisconsin and member of the Canadian National track & field team. In high school, he played varsity football, basketball, track and badminton. He still plays old man's basketball on Tuesday nights and tries to golf in the summers.

Terry Moss, Consulting Editor (H.B.P.H.E., B.Ed., M.Ed., Laurentian & Queen's Universities)

With over 20 years as a physical education teacher, Terry Moss is the reality check for PE Update.

As a high school teacher, Terry has coached boys and girls basketball, cross-country, track and field, gymnastics, ringette, broomball, softball, curling, cross-country skiing, badminton and volleyball.

She is a level-two gymnastics coach and a level-three hurdles coach.

As a physical and health educator, her focus was on keeping classes fun while getting her students fit.

A former high school vice-principal and teacher, Terry retired as an elementary school principal with the Rainbow District School board. She continues to work with schools as as a physical literacy consultant, where she helps teachers include fitness and physical education into the daily lives of their students.

In younger days, she was a member of Laurentian University's national championship basketball team. She has also competed in softball, fastball, volleyball, broombball, cross-country skiing, curling and ball hockey. She still plays basketball, golf, and is an avid curler.

Rickey Goudreau - Osteopath, Massage and Sport Therapy

PE Update calls on the expertise of a number of experts in their field. One such expert is Rickey Goudreau, a massage therapist and osteopath from Sudbury, Ontario who advises on sport therapy, sports rehabilitation and sports injury issues. Rickey has worked with Olympic and national team athletes in five different spots, in addition to working with the general public.
