Resources: The Just Run Program

Dick Moss, Editor, PE Update.com

Just Run is a free, web-based program that provides PE teachers with the tools necessary to establish a successful running and fitness program for their school.

Concept
Classes collectively accumulate mileage in "virtual runs" across the USA or Europe, then track their route on the Just Run website.

The program also provides educational lessons. Hundreds of locations through which the children run are web-linked, highlighting geography, history, and points of interest.

While the program does not currently include Canadian locations, it is available to schools and youth organization in any country.

Other Elements
There are other elements to the program. The Just Deeds feature encourages kids to perform acts of good citizenship, and the nutritional component, Just Taste, promotes healthy eating.

Recently, the Just Run website was updated to include three new training videos, enhanced nutritional and fitness information, and a simplified registration process.
