Games: Run and Jump Relay

Dick Moss, Editor, PE Update.com

The Run and Jump relay is a lot of fun, but it also will develop your students' skipping skills and fitness levels.

Setup
Divide your class into equal teams, with each team lining up behind a start line. Place five or more skipping ropes, about five meters (yards) apart, in front of each line.

How to Play
On your start signal, the first student in each line runs to the first rope, skips once, drops the rope then runs to the second rope, skips twice, does three skips at the third rope, etc.

After the final rope, students run past the end line, then return to the first rope and repeat the process, performing one jump at the first rope.

When the first students cross the start line, the second students begin. The first team to complete the circuit wins the relay.
