Swimming: Water Polo Sprints

Swimming: Water Polo Sprints

Dick Moss, Editor, PE Update.com

Here's a fun activity you can use with your swim team or in your advanced swimming unit. It's a great way to add variety to a class or practice and it will give your students a feeling for the game of water polo.

How to Play
Gather your students around you in the water. Then yell out a swimming stroke (i.e. "Front crawl!") while throwing a water polo ball (or any ball that floats) to a spot in the pool.

Your swimmers must race for the ball using that stroke. The first to reach the ball gets to call the next stroke and throw the ball.

This continues for a set period of time or until your swimmers get tired.
