1. Editor's Note

Do you know what's a really good exercise? Shoveling snow. I know that because I've been shoveling our driveway twice a day for the past week. I think winter has officially hit Ontario. For those of you in southern climates who feel you are missing out (not likely), well....you could always shovel dirt.

The good thing is, we can actually ski right down our driveway to some trails just up the street - as you can see my wife, Terry and dog, Tusker doing in the photo on the right.

Even though I've been knee-deep in snow, I've still managed to add a nice selection of articles to PE Update.com. For example, a way to get more student spectators to one of your home games; a homework assignment that encourages students to develop an exercise habit; ways to teach the bent-leg baseball slide; a fun game using your basketball courts; and a way for volleyball players to practice serving when they're on their own.

The above articles are for PE Update members-only. But this newsletter also contains free content. There's a link to an online video showing how yoga can be implemented into PE classes; our latest blog posting about backup players and their potential opportunities; and a free article from the PE Update archives on interval training for walkers.

This newsletter is free, but most of the content on PE Update.com is for members-only, including instructional videos, the discussion group, over 2000 articles that you can read, print and email... and much more.

If you're not already a member of the PE Update.com website, then join up today!! You can get more information here: PE Update Membership Information

I hope you enjoy this issue!

YOGA FOR STUDENTS VIDEO
This 15-minute video shows a school in which yoga is taught to younger students through storytelling. They weave a story together using traditional yoga poses based on animals to ignite the pupils' imaginations. The benefits of yoga for students is discussed and some footage of actual classes is included.

Anyone for Yoga?
