Physical Education Tips of the Week #35

1. Editor's Note

One of the strengths of the PE Update website is that you can quickly search for the information you need - whether it's new games, rebounding drills or injury advice - you can just type in a cue word and voila, all the articles containing that word instantly appear.

Like most powerful software programs, there can be a learning curve for our methods. So we have provided a video that will quickly teach you how to search for articles. It's available to both members and non-members alike.

We hope to add to our library of video tutorials in the future - you'll be able to find them in the "Tutorials and How To's" department on the left navigation bar (under "Features").

In the meantime, you can see the video at: How to Search for Articles on the PE Update Website

If you're not already a member of PE Update.com, we hope you'll come on board. You can get more information at the following: PE Update Membership Information

I hope you enjoy this issue of PE Tips of the Week!

2. From the Web

NFL COMBINE TESTING FOR QUARTERBACK PROSPECTS

The NFL combine is a showcase for NFL scouts, held every February. During the combine, college football players go through a series of standardized tests in a high-pressure situation. The scouts use this information to determine their draft choices.

Here's an excellent video on recent NFL combine testing for quarterbacks. The video includes interviews with a combine coach discussing what scouts are looking for in their quarterback prospects. It also includes some quarterback tests like the wave drill.

A number of other combine videos are included on the page, which is provided by the NFL network.

The topic from Sarah was "Stupid Rules...

"One of my students read about a new rule for shot putters - they're no longer allowed to do a cartwheel while throwing. LOL!! Really! Anybody out there know some other stupid or funny rules for your sport?"

Do YOU have some stupid rules from your sport, conference or athletic association that you find silly? If you are a PE Update subscriber, post your ideas, questions, comments to the discussion forum at: Discussion Forum
