Resources/Tennis: Eight School Lesson Plans from the United States Tennis Association

The USTA has developed a new tennis curriculum that includes eight easy-to-follow lesson plans. There's a cost for the complete curriculum, but these lesson plans can be downloaded for free.

The lessons were developed in conjunction with physical education expert, Dr. Robert Pangrazi. As stated on the USTA website, the lessons are:

  • “Based on NASPE standards.
  • Designed to fit unique time and scheduling needs.
  • Flexible enough to accommodate small and large groups.
  • Fun and challenging for all kids and adaptable for students with special needs.
  • Targeted towards grades 3-6 and can be adapted to higher and lower grade levels.
  • Able to be taught on any flat surface - No courts required!”
You can download the free lesson plans from the following web-page. Scroll down to “Bringing Tennis to Schools” and  click the “(download here)' link in the third paragraph.
