Training-Room Tips: Make Snow-Packs More Effective

Dick Moss, Editor, PE Update.com

Those of us in colder climates can make use of a readily-available source of material for ice packs: snow.

However, you might have noticed that snow doesn't seem quite as cold as regular ice. That's because snow is filled with air. These tiny air pockets have an insulating effect that reduces cooling effectiveness.

You can improve the cooling effect of snow by adding water and turning it into slush or ice-water. This removes the air pockets and makes your home-made cold pack a colder, more effective cooling device.
