Hockey: Forecheck Tag Game

Dick Moss, Editor, PE Update.com

Forecheck tag is a fun tag game that develops your players' agility and teaches them to be aggressive “chasers” when forechecking. It's a good drill for either varsity teams or classes.

Setup
Divide your squad into groups of four to six players. Using cones or the bluelines, mark a playing area. One player is the forechecker, the others place a towel in the back of their pants (as in flag football). No sticks are carried during the game.

How to Play
The forechecker must chase the skaters and attempt to remove the towel from their pants. Once players have had their towel removed, they also become forecheckers. The last player with a towel wins the contest. Make a new player the forechecker and begin again.
