Tic-Tac "Know"

Games: Tic-Tac "Know"

Tic-Tac “Know” is a game that combines academic knowledge, tossing skills and Tic-Tac-Toe. It's a great way to review material on a day when it's too nice to sit in your classroom.

Setup
Make up a set of Learning Cards, each of which contains a question on any subject you wish to quiz (for example, history, science, math etc.). Put the answers on the back of the card.

Set out three rows of three paper plates (as in the squares that make up a Tic-Tac-Toe game).

Make up one set each of “X” or “O” cards. These cards are 3” x 5” index cards with a large “X” or “O” drawn on them with markers.  Each team will need six “X” or six “O” cards.

Set up a tossing line several feet from the plates and divide your students into two teams. You will also need two beanbags.

How to Play
The game is a variation of Tic-Tac-Toe. Here's how to play.

Ask Team A a question from one of the Learning Cards. Team A members collaborate on the question and have one minute to answer before forfeiting their turn.

If Team A answers correctly, the first player on the team gets one chance to toss the beanbag from the tossing line and land it on a plate. If the player's toss is successful, they place their team's marker (“X” or “O”) on that plate .            However, if the answer is incorrect it's Team B's turn to answer a question. Once Team A throws (whether they miss or not), it's Team B's turn to receive a question.

The team that lands three X's or O's in a row (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) wins the game.
