Basketball: Ricochet Pickup Solo Defensive Drill

Basketball: Ricochet Pickup Solo Defensive Drill

Pat Aitken

Here's a way to develop your players' ability to use quick slide steps on defense.

Your students stand in a ready position three to five feet from a wall holding a basketball in both hands.  They throw the ball  off the wall at an angle and about one to one and a half feet high, then slide laterally to retrieve the rebound.  Be sure your students use good slide-step technique and never cross their feet.

Once the ball is caught your players bounce it off the wall in the opposite direction and continue the drill.
