Wrestling: Reverse the Spot Drill

Wrestling: Reverse the Spot Drill

Dick Moss, Editor, PE Update.com

The Reverse the Spot Drill will develop your students' quickness, balance and grappling skills. It's a nice change from a “pin-their-shoulders-to-the-mat” wrestling session because it favors those who are quick versus those who are strong.

How to Play
Using cones, make an alley about five feet wide on your wrestling mat. Divide your students into pairs and have them face each other within the alley, about five to ten meters (yards) apart.

On your whistle, the two wrestlers attempt to be the first to reach their opponent's starting position.  They are allowed to grapple, grab, impede and take down their opponent in attempting to beat them to this final position.
