Aerobics routines can become stale after a while. But here's a variation that will spice up your classes. It's
active, rhythmic... and loud! It will also give your students the chance to beat the heck out of something, and there's no better way to release frustrations than that.

Drums Alive
Drums Alive™ is a fitness program in which students use drumsticks to beat boxes or stability balls to the beat of background music. The arm movements used for drumming are exaggerated and when combined with dance steps produces a nice increase in heart rate.

The stability balls can be placed in baskets, on boxes, or on aerobics steps to keep them stationary. You could just let them roll, but that would make for a very chaotic class.

You can sign up for the commercial Drums Alive™ programs, which provide dance moves, instructional videos and instructor training. Or, check out the website, learn some moves and improvise your own routines. To get some excellent ideas, Google "Drums Alive"  and check out some videos on YouTub. Here's an example:

If you don't have drumsticks, your students can hit the stability balls with their hands - as if playing bongo drums.

Assemblies
A Drums Alive™ routine is a great idea for a school assembly, talent show or parents' night physical education demonstration.
