The movie, For Love of the Game, provides a great example of using cue words to improve mental focus and concentration. At the start of this video, you can see baseball pitcher, Billy Chapel, using his cue words "Clear the mechanism" to induce a state of enhanced concentration and exclude outside distractions. It's commonly known as "The Zone." At the end of the video, tired and tense and near the end of a no-hitter, his cue words fail him, but it's a great way to show your students the effect of mental training.
