Nutrition - How to Avoid Gas When Drinking Protein Shakes

Ingesting protein shakes may cause some people to experience embarassing problems with gas. Here are some tips on how to avoid the problem.

Gas Cures for Protein Shakes

1. Look for shakes that don't have sugar alcohols such as avoid sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol, lactitol and hydrogenated starch hydrolsates. Since the body can't completely absorb or break down these ingredients, they can trigger diarrhea, gas and bloating.

2. Don't overblend your shakes. The more you blend, the more air you mix into the shake and the gassier and more bloated you'll become.

3. Slow down when you drink. Ingesting too quickly will cause you to swallow more air and lead to excess gas.
