Equipment: How to Make Boundary Lines
on a Snow-Packed Schoolyard

Winter can be a miserable time for your PE program…or… you can take advantage of the snowy conditions to play winter games in your schoolyard.

One advantage to a snow-packed schoolyard is that you can easily lay down boundary lines for your playing areas. Lined playing areas make your games seem more official, and they're great for winter festivals and play days.

Making Boundary Lines
The easiest way to make boundary lines is to spray them on. Just mix water and green food coloring in a spray bottle and spray the mixture on your packed-down snow, letting it set overnight, To protect your students' clothing, make sure they don't sit on the lines.

You'll get some highly visible lines that are environmentally friendly, inexpensive and non-toxic.

So don't let the winter get you down - get out there and play!
